New York is one of eight states selected by USDOE for two years of technical assistance to develop strategies for enhancing the college and career readiness for low-skilled adults through increased and quality access to training and learning opportunities. NYSED is piloting systemic regional approaches in the central/southern region that can be used to inform policies, funding, data sharing, use of technology, and instructional design statewide and in other regions of the state. The Pathways to Post Secondary initiative is aimed at creating multiple pathways for out-of-school youth and adults in six literacy zones and other high poverty communities to postsecondary instruction in over six community colleges and multiple one-stop career centers. This workshop will highlight the approaches, partnerships, and lessons learned that will inform New York’s overall efforts to promote postsecondary and career transition for adult education students and families. The workshop panel will consist of representatives of adult education, postsecondary, and workforce systems who are working to align systems, pilot innovative technology, and create successful education pipelines.
